How we do it

How do we do it at RC Aerial Photos? We do it by precisely maneuvering a radio controlled helicopter with an onboard camera into pre-discussed favorable positions and capture high resolutions photos from altitudes between 10 and 400 feet. We can safely fly lower than a full-sized aircraft. Full-size aircrafts must follow (FAA) regulations, and by doing so are limited to flying no lower than 1000 feet above the highest obstacle in populated areas. Even in rural areas, a full-sized aircraft is limited to flying no lower than 500 feet. The speed and height disadvantage of a full-size aircraft requires the photographer to use a telephoto lens and a fast shutter speed. This combination can reduce the quality of the aerial photos, and can require many fly-bys by the full-sized aircraft to capture multiple photos, thus increasing the expense of the photo session.

We have the ability to take multiple high resolution photos from several altitudes and angles in just a few minutes of flight. The photos can then be viewed by the client just moments after the photo session has completed.

We use the latest state-of-the-art computer software back at our business to enhance the photos prior to adding them to a CD for the client to view. The photos will be saved in a JPEG format ready for printing, emailing, or for web use.

 SAFETY AND CONSIDERATIONS

We must assess each job location for potential obstacles and hazards, and we strive to maintain safe fly zones away from people and property whenever possible.

The weather is a factor that must be considered for an optimum outcome of a photo session. We can safely fly in winds up to 20 mph including the gusts. Higher winds will reduce the number of useable photos. Our helicopters and equipment can brave temperatures from 40 to 90 + degrees. We look for and require favorable days, free from rain or fog for the best possible photos.
