The equipment we use for aerial photography consists of the latest, state-of-the-art radio controlled helicopters. We have both gas powered and electric powered helicopters to assist us in tailoring our photo sessions to the environment. Our helicopters are 4 feet 3 inches from nose to tail, and the main rotor diameter measures 4 feet 6 inches.

The camera platform carried by our helicopter is capable of panning 360 degrees and tilting 160 degrees, thus giving us the ability to capture even the hardest-to-get photos. We use a Sony High Resolution, 7.2 megapixel digital camera and the latest software to produce an extremely high quality photo. For this to all come together, RC Aerial Photos shows up at the photo session as a team, a helicopter pilot and a camera platform operator. Each operator has a separate transmitter, one controls the helicopter and the other controls the camera platform. The helicopter pilot's duty is to keep his eyes on the helicopter at all times and precisely maneuver it with the attached camera platform at various angles and altitudes, as instructed by the camera platform operator via 2-way headsets.

The camera platform carries an onboard wireless audio/video transmitter, which sends a signal, as seen through the camera, down to an audio/video receiver, which is ground-based near the camera operator. The camera operator uses a 7 inch LCD color monitor to view and to instruct the heli pilot on the altitudes and angles the client has requested, as well as controlling the pan, tilt and zoom of the camera. Once the correct positioning is reached, the camera operator has the ability to electronically trigger the camera shutter from his transmitter, capturing a high quality photo. We strongly encourage and would like to see the client get involved by viewing the monitor over the camera operator's shoulder. This is not mandatory, but no one has a better picture of what is desired in the finished photo than the client. Our equipment is highly maintained and goes through inspections before and after use to insure the utmost safety possible. Safety is our number one goal at each photo session. The client's satisfaction is next in line, we will strive to give each our 100% attention.
